Yara and Rauanheimo start cooperation in the port of Mussalo, Kotka

Yara Suomi and Rauanheimo have signed a long-term contract for the handling and storage of elemental sulphur in the port of Mussalo, Kotka. From 2025 onwards, Yara will transport all the elemental sulphur needed for fertilizer production in Siilinjärvi via the port of Mussalo.

The contract is related to the company’s renewal of sulphuric acid production in Siilinjärvi. Sulphuric acid is needed for the production of phosphoric acid and fertilizers and is therefore important for the security of supply.

Rauanheimo will carry out a major transport investment for sulphur processing and modifications to its existing terminal in Mussalo before the start of the traffic in summer 2025.

“We are very pleased to start working with Yara in Musslo. The contract will enable us to implement a modern terminal that meets all the specific requirements for sulphur handling” says Rauanheimo’s CEO Tero Kosonen.
